Taj Mahal Restaurante, nestled in the heart of Santander, Spain, is making waves in the local dining scene as a cherished Indian restaurant. With its cozy ambiance and attentive staff, patrons can expect a warm, inviting experience from the moment they step in. Reviews often emphasize the friendly and efficient service, making it a spot worth visiting even if you're just standing outside before opening time.
Culinary offerings here showcase a blend of authenticity and flavor. Guests have praised dishes like Chicken Tikka, which receives hearty acclaim for its standout preparation. However, opinions vary on the spice levels; for some, a bit more heat would elevate the experience, especially for those craving a true Madras. While the portions have been noted as moderate, the quality of the biriyani and curries does not disappoint, even if a few patrons felt a stronger meat presence would improve the biriyani.
Despite minor critiques, the overall sentiment remains positive. The combination of good food, a peaceful atmosphere, and friendly service makes Taj Mahal Restaurante a beloved choice for those looking to indulge in flavorful Indian cuisine. The restaurant stands as a gem in Santander for any curry lover!

Reviews for Taj Mahal Restaurante
Review highlights
Based on 687 reviewsTaj Mahal Restaurante in Santander is widely appreciated for its authentic Indian cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Common praises highlight the friendly, attentive service and the fresh, made-to-order dishes that capture traditional flavors. While the restaurant maintains a cozy and inviting ambiance, some patrons note that portion sizes, particularly for meat in dishes like biryani, could be more generous. The spice levels tend to be mild, catering to a broad audience, and the rice is frequently commended. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as a reliable option for Indian food in the area, with guests expressing intent to return for its consistent quality and pleasant dining experience.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this Indian restaurant. Not that we were keen to eat but we were standing outside five minutes before opening! Service was friendly, quick and efficient. We could see/hear/smell the food being cooked to order. Overall the standard was very good. I eat Indian at least once per week - either cooking it myself from scratch - or as a takeaway (living in England) - and I was impressed with the dishes. I would have liked a little more chilli heat (having asked for Madras hot) but the basics were done well. There was no nonsense like cream drizzled on top of the curries. Recommended.
We came here for Indian food to celebrate Diwali. It was not crowded. The place is quiet and cozy. The Christmas decorations are still on. The food portion is okay, not too generous. The rice is good. Curry is not spicy.
Authentic and delicious Indian food and very nice and attentive staff.
I went there based on someone's recommendation. Though I wasn’t disappointed, i was not on the moon either. Their service was really great, but the Lamb biriyani i took could be better. The lamb was shy to show its face. Taste was good and all but the biriyani should have more meat in it. The Chicken Tikka was spot on. I would like to go there again since it is the only indian restaurant here. Maybe if they had more competition the quality could rise from better to best! Godspeed!!
Fantastic food, great vibe, and friendly staff. Will definitely come back!
Lovely indian, tucked a little from the front. Excellent vegetarian food, and they will make it whatever strength/ heat you want it. Which is most unusual in Europe, normally they are bland/mild, but here they make it as hot as you want. The only downside, is the lighting. Rather too bright. Could do with dimming.
We had a lovely meal last week whilst visiting Santander, food was spot on , service was excellent, great value for money would recommend this place
